Week after week, we have witnessed that a serious trend has been forming that could jeopardize the whole philosophy of Philippine Idol. 2 weeks back, we saw Stef and Drae booted off the show even if they showed strong performances that would rival some of the remaining contestants. And, then last weekend, Reymond was voted off while 2 of the worst performers remained in the upper echelon of the voting results. You then realize that the good performers are getting victimized until we are left with mediocrity.
Yes, that is the direction of Philippine Idol right now. It is unfathomable to think that the historical first Philippine Idol is the by-product of the gargantuan voting powers of rich families that support the whim of a unqualified and second-rate performers. It is a travesty to witness the cream of the crop beaten by horrendous performances because ABC 5 has no capability to reach every house of the Philippines. We are left with a few voters choosing the summation of what the Philippine talent is.
Maybe what we can do is to vote for the best and boycott the worst. A family’s richness could not match the wealth of a nation. Maybe it’s time to actualize the philosophy of the Idol franchise. Vote for the representation of the Philippine Idol and show the world how talented Filipinos are.
Vote for the best! Not Miguel and Ken.
